Current surges typically occur due to short circuits, overloaded devices, power supply issues or poor-quality cables and connectors. All lead to an unexpected and sudden increase in current flow. Unlike other ground-lift solutions, the iDefender Max eliminates ground loops without compromising equipment safety. It intelligently and automatically reestablishes the earth connection when a current-related fault is detected, ensuring excess current is directed to the earth rather than to the connected equipment.
The iFi iDefender MAX supports input power up to 100W (20V/5A), making it compatible with a wide range of devices and removing it completely from the confines of mere USB DAC applications. With support for USB 3.0 and backwards compatibility with USB 2.0 the iDefender maintains high-speed data transfer and playback of high-resolution audio files, regardless of their quality or file size.
The iFi iDefender MAX provides you with the option to further upgrade performance, with a dedicated external power input that completely bypasses the USB power supplied from the connected PC - allowing you to use an audiophile-grade power solution such as our iPower2. The iFi iPower2 is an ultra-quiet, ultra-clean audiophile-grade power supply, featuring our proprietary Active Noise Cancellation II technology to cancel out all incoming extraneous noise. This technology allows it to be more than 10 times quieter than typical audiophile power supplies.
